What an interesting post. Thanks Lindy and Helen. I tend to steer away from True Crime but I do like female villains, cops and all shades in between. Although my books are romcom/suspense/adventure/whatever you like, I have sniffed around the idea of crime ‘lite’ – if there is such a thing – possibly property crime and the political/power machinations within police/crime organisations – rather than blood and guts. So I’m going to scamper on over and check out Sisters in Crime

Hi Steve and Fleur
It took about a year to write – on and off. If I squashed it into a nutshell, it maybe took 4 months of research and 2 to write – but they kind of blend in together.
I am always wary – or rather aware – of the ‘survivors’ when I write true crime. For the victims I just try to tell the truth – as much as I can from the facts.
There’s nothing strange about your interest Fleur. And yes there’s something perversely fascinating about women who kill for pleasure or profit. Perhaps because we always know that men have always done it.

Hi Steve, I did wonder about the families of victims but I think the book handles the matter very delicately.

Fleur, I’m very relieved to hear flies are the only things in danger of dying round you:-)

Women Who Kill is a fascinating book. For authors writing fiction with women villains it should be compulsory reading! It’s available at Booktopia, amongst others, as well as most airport booksellers.

Hi Lindy and Helene, you have touched on a subject that really does interest me. (My husband thinks I’m very strange!) Women murderers have a completely different to me, don’t they? I remember reading a book called Missy’s Murder – it was about two teenage girls who killed their best friend because she was prettier, smarter, nicer, than they… I’ll be tracking your book down, Lindy and Helene, thanks for sharing this – I may not have heard about Lindy, otherwise.

Hi Lindy, thanks for a very informative post. How long did it take you to write Women Who Kill? Were there issues of victim privacy you had to address?
