Travel companions

I left Cairns at 6 am and the temperature was twelve degrees. At 12.30 pm I landed in Melbourne and it was still twelve degrees! Nothing like consistency! The skies were blue, the winds were light, the taxi driver was a Greek gentleman with a fantastic sense of humour. Melbourne was showering me with her charm.

By 1.30 pm I was drinking champagne with my lovely agent, Clare Foster, (and yes that means there’s good news, but more of that later!) and enjoying being a writer.

By 3.00 pm, Margareta Osborn and I were swapping writing stories. There’s nothing quite like getting together with another writer. The conversation goes something like -‘Really? You do that too? Wow, I thought I was the only one that felt that? Really? Your editor said that too?’

I call it terminal uniqueness.  We writers are just as insecure about our work as any other artist and it’s wonderful to be reminded that we’re not alone on this journey  🙂

  1. Your gonna have to do better than that, Helene. Define ‘Sales are doing well for Burning Lies’ that requires a champagne toast. Are we talking best seller here? :))

  2. Oh, I am so pleased to hear your sales are doing well. That is the best news 🙂

What gorgeous photos. Glad Melbourne looked after you – except with the temperature!!
