The Power of Women

International Women’s Day – a celebration of how far we’ve come and reminder of the road that lies ahead.

Aung San Suu Kyi – because she conducts herself with dignity and has never given up hope.

Debbie Wardley – because she won the battle against Ansett before most of us even knew it needed to be fought.

Queen Elizabeth II – because she endures and is a marker of our changing world.

Nina Walker, my Grade 11 and 12 English teacher – because she shared her love of writing and so much more, and inspired her students.

Adele Nisbet – because she taught me tolerance and grace, and helped me understand that some things are worth fight for.

Stella Miles – because she paved the way.
